1884 Vienna - 1948 Salzburg
The painter and graphic artist Hans Frank was born in Vienna in 1884. Between 1903 and 1907 Frank studied at the Kunstgewerbeschule and from 1907 to 1911 at the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts under Franz Rumpler. Extensive study trips took him to various European countries. From 1921 he was a member of the Künstlerhaus. His oeuvre consists largely of portraits and landscapes. Hans Frank lived in Tyrol for a few years, moved back to Vienna in 1925 and to the Lungau region in the last years of his life. Frank received several awards, including the Honorary Award of the City of Vienna in 1931 and the Gold Medal of Honor in 1934. Hans Frank died in Salzburg in 1948.
