Franz Beer studied at the University of Applied Arts and the Academy of Fine Arts in
Vienna. The artist left Austria in 1951 and lived and worked in Italy, Germany, Switzerland,
France and the USA, where he later also taught at various universities. In 1970, Beer took
up a professorship at the University of Applied Sciences in Schwäbisch Gmünd, which he
held until 1991. From 1999, Venice was the artist's place of residence.
Today, his works are exhibited in numerous private and public collections from Argentina
to Belgium, Germany, France, Great Britain, Italy, Austria, Sweden, Switzerland and the
USA.
