Born 1933 in Brunnwald near Leonfelden (Upper Austria)
1948 - 1951 Attended the Steyr steel-cutting school, arts and crafts department.
1951 - 1954 Studied at the University of Applied Arts (‘Angewandte’) in Vienna,
Department of Metal Sculpture and Industrial Moulding under Prof. Eugen Mayer.
1963 - 2001 Head of the master class for metal sculpture
1977 - 1981 Rector of the University of Art and Industrial Design in Linz (now the
University of Art and Industrial Design).
1971 - 1976 President of the MAERZ artists' association in Linz.
1977 Helmuth Gsöllpointner and Peter Baum organise the FORUM METALL in Linz.
1980 Together with Angela Hareiter and Laurids Ortner, conception and organisation of
the large-scale exhibition FORUM DESIGN, which brings together international design
greats in Linz.
