Das Gemälde zeigt Fürstin Chariclée als Braut. Das Gemälde wurde ihr 1882 anlässlich ihrer Hochzeit mit Fürst Hohenlohe-Schillingsfürst geschenkt. Fürstin Chariclée war die Tochter von Gregorios Fürst Ypsilanti (1835-1886) und seiner Frau Helena Sina de Hodod et Kizdia (1845-1893). Helenas Vater war Simon Georg Freiherr von Sina (1810-1876), ein sehr erfolgreicher Bankier, der große Ländereien und das Bankhaus Sina in Wien besaß. Viele Jahre lang war er griechischer Gesandter am kaiserlichen Hof in Wien.
